All external websites, including their associated information and documents, are listed for the interest and convenience of the user as these external websites have some relationship and dedication to the care and protection of native wildlife.

Wildlife Victoria has no direction or control into the content on any of these sites, and therefore it is the user’s responsibility to make their own decisions about the relevance, accuracy and reliability of information located on all external sites.

To assist us in responding to your report of an injured animal, providing our products and services and otherwise conducting our business functions and activities, we need to collect personal information about you. By providing your personal information, you agree that it will be used and disclosed by Wildlife Victoria, ABN 27 753 478 012 and its related entities (collectively Wildlife Victoria, we, us or our) in accordance with this statement and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree, you must not provide your personal information, and we may not be able to communicate with you or provide certain products or services to you. We may disclose your personal information to other parties, including to third parties who provide products and services to us or through us in the ordinary operation, administration or promotion of our business and otherwise in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not ordinarily disclose your personal information to third parties located overseas, though from time to time this may occur. We may also use and disclose your personal information to contact you for Wildlife Victoria’s fundraising purposes, unless you opt out (which you can do at any time in accordance with our Privacy Policy). Social Media Policy

Wildlife Victoria manages organisational social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube to share information about our charitable work with the community.

Content published on our social media channels is provided for general purposes only. While we take reasonable steps to ensure information is accurate at the time of publication, we do not guarantee its completeness, accuracy, or ongoing currency. Following, sharing, tagging, or linking to third-party content does not constitute endorsement by Wildlife Victoria.

Wildlife Victoria does not accept reports of sick, injured, or orphaned wildlife via social media. Reports for wildlife emergencies must be made to our 24/7 Emergency Response Service on (03) 8400 7300.

Privacy and Personal Information

To protect your privacy and the privacy of others:

  • Do not post personal information (including phone numbers, email addresses, residential addresses, or identifying details) in comments, posts, or replies.
  • Do not disclose personal information about other individuals, including our staff, volunteers, stakeholders, or members of the public.

We reserve the right to remove any content that contains personal or sensitive information.

Monitoring and Data Collection

We monitor our social media accounts regularly and aim to respond as soon as possible. If you have an urgent question or comment we recommend contacting our office.

We use Sprout Social to manage our social media accounts. Information shared through our social media channels may be accessed by and stored within Sprout Social in accordance with its privacy practices.

Some social media platforms and service providers may store or process data outside Victoria or Australia.

Community Standards and Acceptable Use

We are committed to maintaining a respectful, safe, and constructive online environment. By engaging with Wildlife Victoria’s social media platforms, you agree to comply with this policy.

We reserve the right to hide, delete, or report content, to limit or disable comments on any posts where necessary, and to block users, where engagement includes (but is not limited to):

  • Disclosure of personal or confidential information relating to other users, staff, volunteers, stakeholders, or Wildlife Victoria operations.
  • Discussion of operational details that may be sensitive or inappropriate for a public forum.
  • Abusive, harassing, stalking, threatening, or intimidating behaviour.
  • Defamatory, offensive, obscene, vulgar, or violent content.
  • Hate speech or language targeting individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, nationality, political beliefs, or other protected characteristics.
  • Fraudulent, deceptive, misleading, or unlawful content.
  • Content that infringes intellectual property rights.
  • Spam or repetitive promotional content.
  • Unauthorised solicitation of donations, fundraising, or commercial opportunities.
  • Trolling or deliberately disruptive behaviour intended to undermine genuine discussion.

Complaints

Complaints should be directed to the Wildlife Victoria office and will not be managed via social media.

Enforcement

Users who significantly or repeatedly breach this policy may be blocked from our social media platforms and/or reported to the relevant platform for review and potential action.
