In-person rescue and transport training

Who can volunteer with Wildlife Victoria?

To become a Wildlife Victoria volunteer, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Aged 18 years or over

  • A current driver’s license and access to a registered and insured vehicle

  • Willingness to handle wildlife

  • Be able to commit for a minimum of 12 months

  • Be able to commit to 25 cases each 3 months if you are within a metro are (approx. 2 cases / 4 hours per week).

  • Melbourne Metro | Basic Rescue & Transport | Saturday, July 19

  • Mornington Peninsula | Foundations of Macropod Rescue | Saturday, August 2

  • Geelong | Basic Rescue & Transport | Saturday, August 9

  • Melbourne Metro | Basic Rescue & Transport | Saturday, August 23

  • Melbourne Metro | Foundations of Macropod Rescue | Sunday, August 24

  • Melbourne Metro | Basic Rescue & Transport | Saturday, August 30

Application process

Volunteers interested in joining Wildlife Victoria in 2025 must attend one of the following information sessions, to learn more about the role and whether it’s suitable.

·   Saturday, May 10 | 2:00 – 3:30 PM | RSPCA Pawditorium Burwood, or

·   Wednesday, May 14 | 7:00 – 8:30 PM | Online

Follow this link to register for an information session.           

Once you have attended an information session, if you wish to join as a rescuer you will be asked to:

1.  Complete an Expression of Interest form (including your preferred training session/s).

2.  Have a brief phone call with a People Services team member.

3.  Attend in-person training ($50 concession / $70 standard + optional $65 rescue kit).

4.  Complete onboarding steps, including online compliance training and a police check.
