Advocacy
Each year Wildlife Victoria’s Emergency Response Service responds to hundreds of thousands of calls from the Victorian public seeking assistance for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife. Our phone and online reporting system is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year ensuring every call is answered and the best possible outcome for each and every native animal is achieved.
In 2023, Wildlife Victoria responded to over 130,000 calls providing over the phone advice and dispatching volunteers to assist over 90,000 native animals across the state. Our Travelling Veterinary team responded to over 1,900 cases of wildlife requiring veterinary assistance across 78 species.
With a statewide network of 1,300 registered wildlife rescue and transport volunteers, wildlife rehabilitators and in-field veterinarians and veterinary nurses, Wildlife Victoria offers an end-to-end wildlife emergency response service to the Victorian public at no cost.
Wildlife Victoria is also committed to advocating for the care and protection of our native species.
We advocate for positive changes to attitudes, practices, laws, and regulations that negatively impact native animals.
