While Victorians enjoy a well-deserved break over summer, native wildlife across the state do not stop needing help. This is why at Wildlife Victoria our dedicated volunteers, Emergency Response Operators and Travelling Veterinary Service continue operating tirelessly throughout the holidays.
With more holidaymakers on the roads, our precious wildlife are at additional risk. During the 10-day period over Christmas and New Year last year, we received over 400 calls from concerned members of the public reporting a native animal that had been hit by a vehicle. After our busiest spring period ever, we are expecting an even greater number of injured wildlife on our roads this summer. As the days get longer and warmer, we also see a greater number of heat-stressed wildlife who need our help.
Our Emergency Response Service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year. Our Travelling Veterinary Service also continues to provide essential assessment and treatment to wildlife at shelters across the state 7 days a week during the busy Christmas and New Year period.
Over 90% of our funding comes from generous donations by members of the public. As the demand for our service only continues to grow, we require more support to continue being on call to help wildlife.
This year, we are asking you to send your support To Wildlife, With Love, to help us keep our services running year-round. Your donation will enable us to continue rescuing sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife across Victoria, and support our Emergency Response Service in answering the more than 130,000 calls that we receive annually.
Please consider sending your support To Wildlife, With Love, this holiday period.
