Report Wildlife Emergency

Every animal counts. Every dollar counts.

Every day counts.

Our wildlife veterinarians, wildlife rescue volunteers, and emergency response staff are on call every day of the year.

Every day, wildlife needs our help.

Our Emergency Response Service operates 24/7, 365 days a year. Our operators are available at any time, day or night, to offer advice and dispatch a trained volunteer rescuer if needed. We have over 1400 volunteers across the state; dedicated, compassionate people who are trained to respond to wildlife emergencies.

In October this year, Wildlife Victoria experienced the busiest day on record, triaging 1,040 calls from distressed members of the public seeking help for injured or orphaned wildlife.

Every animal counts.

Native wildlife has unique needs and deserves a dedicated veterinary service. Beyond basic triage, the treatment of wildlife often requires additional training which is rarely taught through veterinary degrees. The Wildlife Victoria Travelling Veterinary Service exists to fill the gap in wildlife-specific veterinary care in our state.

Our wildlife-specific Travelling Veterinary Service teams – based in Metro Melbourne and regional Gippsland – are out on the roads every day providing expert vet support to native animals, both in the field and in rehabilitation shelters.

Climate change, urbanisation and habitat destruction are putting enormous pressure on native wildlife in Australia. Our teams witness the impacts of these pressures every single day.

We need to acknowledge the responsibility we have to protect our natural landscapes and share ‘our home’ with wildlife, because if it is not shared, biodiversity will decline, and our environment will slowly disappear.

Our veterinary staff, rescue volunteers, emergency response phone operators will be working hard every single day over the summer, with current projections strongly indicating it will be Wildlife Victoria’s busiest since the Black Summer bushfires.

As we approach the holiday season, your support will be vital in helping us continue to provide this free essential care for wildlife in need.

Over 90% of Wildlife Victoria’s funding comes from donations. Without our supporters, Wildlife Victoria’s wildlife emergency services would not exist.

Every dollar counts.

I am grateful that my role with the Travelling Veterinary Service allows me to meet an incredible range of very passionate people who are wanting to do their part to make a difference.

Whether that's being able to volunteer time, donate resources, donate money, be active in your community, share positive stories... every little action can have a consequence and if its small and it is just a ripple, then that ripple will grow and grow and grow
