Wildlife Victoria is excited to offer a wildlife education session to primary and secondary school students. Our engaging and interactive sessions are designed to inform students about the amazing native fauna found in their own backyards, the challenges they face and how the students can help.
For Levels F-6, the program engages with the AusVels Science Curriculum. For ResourceSmart schools, the presentation complements the Biodiversity Module. Wildlife Victoria only asks for a small donation from participants.
What’s included in the 1 hour program:
- A 30 min engaging presentation by a Wildlife Victoria volunteer
- A range of wildlife games/activities
- Resources and materials for the students
- A letter home to the parents/guardians
We are committed to engaging with local communities in order to protect Victoria’s native wildlife.
We also offer an alternative education session 'RACV Wild Bytes - Stories From Your Backyard' which aims to involve families and wider communities with helpful tips about helping wildlife in your own backyard. This session is a part of our very exciting partnership with the RACV. The session will generally take place after school-hours to allow for families to join in the discussion.
Please note: We are unable to bring wild animals along with us to the presentations as our wildlife are in rehabilitation to be released back to the wild, so human contact needs to be kept to a minimum.

Eyes Open For Wildlife
“Eyes Open For Wildlife” is an exciting awareness campaign focusing on educating Victorians to contact our Emergency Response Service directly to reduce the response time and increase the chance of a positive outcome for the animals in distress in our community.
The campaign is supported by some very funky headbands available for $4.00 each. The headbands will make or a great fundraising item at school events. We would love all of the children, parents and staff in your school’s community to buy and wear a headband to show support for this vital community service. By wearing a headband, they will act as ambassadors for Wildlife Victoria by spreading the word amongst their family and friends, ensuring that they know who to call when they find sick, injured and orphaned wildlife.
