Projects & Activities

projectsThere are a other ways you can help Victoria’s wildlife and not all of them include climbing a tree to catch a koala. Below you’ll find some information on joey pouches and possum boxes, two incredibly useful items for our volunteer rescuers and carers.

Joey Pouches & Pouch Liners

Do you like to knit or sew?  We would love you to make pouches or liners to keep our little joeys safe and warm.  Our volunteer carers put in so much time and love when caring for these precious creatures, but most don’t have time to knit or sew the pouches that they require for the little ones in care. If you, or your craft group can help with making some pouches, please click here for instructions of how to make the different types.

Nest Boxes

Do you or your friends have basic woodwork skills? Making nest boxes is a great way to give rehabilitated orphaned marsupials a home and a fun activity too. Volunteer carers will raise possums and gliders in their own nesting box and ultimately release them back to the wild along with the nest box they have grown up in. Please click here for instructions and dimensions.

If you have an idea for a project or just want some more information on the above activities please don’t hesitate to contact Wildlife Victoria by phone on 03 9445 0310 or by emailing us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Eyes Open For Wildlife - School fundraising campaign

Harvey heabands1

A great way to engage children and raise funds for Wildlife Victoria is to sell some "Eyes Open for Wildlife" headbands at your school.

A group of students can take on the task of selling the Eyes Open for Wildlife headbands to the entire school for the course of a week as a way of raising much needed funds for Wildlife Victoria. We can supply your school with posters to help spread the word in the lead up to your fundraising week. Headbands can be sold to the children for a $2.00 gold coin donation.

If your school would like to take part in this fundraising and awareness campaign, please feel free to contact us by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or calling 03 9445 0310.
