Pinkie Wombat

You can save lives like piglet’s - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

“My name is Sue. I'm a volunteer wildlife carer for Wildlife Victoria...

I rescued a baby wombat (who I later christened Piglet) when has was still a 265g pinkie.

I found him after receiving a call from 13 000 WILDLIFE - Wildlife Victoria’s  emergency phone service - early one morning.

The call was for his mother, who had been knocked down by a car. But sadly, the wombat was already dead.

However, I gently eased the pouch open to have a look inside and there he was. I softly slipped my hand around his little body and eased him out.

Without the generosity of supporters like you, rescues like the ones I perform day in, day out simply wouldn’t happen. I’m sure you don’t want to see this happen any more than I do, and that’s why I really hope you’ll help to keep 13 000 WILDLIFE running .

Please donate now to support 13 000 WILDLIFE

That phone number is the vital link between injured wildlife and carers like me — but you are the lifeline that keeps it running. It costs Wildlife Victoria over $436,000 a year to keep emergency 13 000 WILDLIFE lines open 365 days a year. And they can handle more than 1,400 emergency calls every week!

With a gift of $50 you could cover the cost of keeping 13 000 WILDLIFE emergency lines open for one hour. $95 helps cover the cost of a phone operator. Or a generous donation of $165 will help us respond to 3 emergency cases.

Piglet wasn’t going to get the perfect start in life — but thanks to 13 000 WILDLIFE and supporters like you — he would survive.

I can't stress too much how important your role is in saving the lives of these little guys and other native Australian wildlife too.

Thank you”
